The Brackett Green
Stop Gate is custom built to withstand the design differential
for the particular application.
The Gate is of welded construction, fabricated from steel
plate and rolled steel sections and fitted with neoprene
edge seals. General gate construction is basically all
carbon steel with a coal tar epoxy pain finish providing
the necessary corrosion protection. A
single piece Stop Gate is normally designed for installation
at the bottom of the channel with a civil work apron
wall extending up from the top of the opening, to deck
level. However, the Stop Gate can be supplied in sections
with one section arranged to locate above the other
so that it extends above the highest water level thereby
obviating the necessity for a concrete apron wall.
A preformed neoprene seal is fitted around
the periphery of the Stop Gate. This seal arrangement
is suitable for sealing in indirection with an on-seating
head.
The Stop Gate is fitted with side guidance
rollers and to align the seals on the sealing face.
A fill sensing device is also incorporated to prevent
accidental release of the lifting beam in the event
of the Stop Gate jamming in the guides whilst being
lowered.
The Stop Gate is designed for installation
in still water conditions although alternative designs
incorporating heavy duty rollers on the edges of the
gates are available for applications where the gate
has to be positioned during flow conditions.
Application
Brackett Green Traveling Band, Rotating
Cup and Drum Screens for water and sewage applications
need only be isolated for routine maintenance.
The provision of Stop Gates allows the
channel to be closed whenever required to facilitate
routine inspection of the screening equipment or pump
intakes. Careful planning of a multi-screen installation
can enable a minimum number or Stop Gates to be used.
Care should be taken whenever to standardize wherever
possible on Stop Gate size to enable a minimum unit
number to be utilized at various locations on the installation. |
