| Brackett Green Single Entry Cup Screens, water intake screens, are recommended for installation on raw water intakes where low maintenance is a prime consideration. They ensure the effective removal of floating and suspended solids, thus protecting critical equipment such as pumps and heat exchangers. These water intake screens, fitted with mesh ranging from 0.5mm to 10mm, can be installed as a single unit or as part of a two or three stage system.
Low Maintenance Costs
With each water intake screen installed in a concrete
chamber the initial capital cost of civil works may
be higher than for a traveling band screen. However,
this extra cost can normally be recouped within the
first 3 to 4 years of operation, depending on site conditions,
thanks to the cup screens extremely low maintenance
requirements.
The main cooling water intakes of power
stations, refineries and petrochemical plants using
fresh or sea water are among the applications for the
Brackett Single Entry Cup Screen. It is also used at
the intakes to water treatment and desalination plants
which utilize conventional or membrane technology.
Solid Shaft
The Brackett Single Entry Cup Screen
is strongly built with a fabricated drum and a solid
horizontal center shaft revolving slowly in heavy duty
self-aligning roller bearings. These are lubricated
from deck-level reservoirs.
Water flows from the inside to the outside
of the cup through mesh panels arranged around its periphery.
These mesh panels are cleaned by back washing at deck
level.
The water intake screen is driven by a drive unit positioned
at deck level, with the final drive being by a nylon
pinion which engages with a gear ring on the back plate
of the screen. The drive gear and the main shaft assembly
are the only moving parts.
Individually designed
Brackett Single Entry Cup Screens
are designed to suit each individual application, with
specific features as required to meet operating and
site conditions.
Water intake screens of this type may be up to 10 meters
in diameter and up to 3 meters wide.
Ancillary Equipment
Brackett can supply all the plant
necessary for a complete screening station. |
